فعل هاي دو كلمه اي (Two – word verbs)

1 – بسياري از فعل ها از دو كلمه تشكيل شده اند، يكي قسمت اصلي فعل و ديگري جزئي كه آن را كامل مي كند.مانند Put on‌ كه قسمت اصلي آن Put‌و جزء ديگر آن On‌مي باشد.

Put -> base       On -> particle

شما با چند فعل دو كلمه اي زير قبلاً آشنا شده ايد:

Put on = پوشيدن                      Give back =‌پس دادن     

Wake up = بيدار شدن               Take off = درآوردن              Pick up = برداشتن

عبارت (clause)  به گروهی از کلمات میگویند که شامل فاعل و فعل  هستند و تشکیل یک جمله یا قسمتی از جمله رامیدهند

عبارت اسمی (noun clause) : به عبارتی گفته میشود که به جای یک اسم یا ضمیر در جمله بکار میرود.

ترتیب قرار گرفتن چند صفت قبل از یک اسم

گاهي اوقات بيش از يك صفت براي يك اسم آورده مي شود.در چنين مواردي الگوي معمول به صورت زير است:

Determiner        + quality              + size     + color     +   nationality  +   material   +  purpose   +    noun

اسم   +    منظور     +    جنس      +      مليت       +        رنگ +    اندازه +   چگونگي يا كيفيت + مشخص كننده تعداد

صفتهای منظور(در کتاب سال سوم این نوع صفت ها مطرخ نشده است اما در سال دوم در درس 4 توضیح داده شده است)
